Talks Area 2

Brian Edwards

This session considers a ground-breaking story of sacrifice, exile, betrayal and martyrdom during the turbulent years of Henry VIII and the English Reformation.

In this session you will:

  • Reflect on the significance of 2025 as the 500th anniversary of the first-ever printed text of the New Testament into English from the Greek
  • Consider its importance to the progress of the Reformation in Britain – with the watchword ‘ad fontes’ or ‘to the source’
  • Focus on the life, vision and courage of William Tyndale, England’s greatest Bible translator
  • Be challenged by the many men and women who gave their lives for the privilege of reading the Bible in English and not Latin
  • Reflect on the value of the English Bible that shaped our culture and ethos as a nation – and the danger of neglecting the word of God today
